Pushing: chest, shoulders and triceps
Close-grip floor press
Muscles worked: Triceps · chest

How to do it
- Set up. Lie on the floor with knees bent and feet flat. Hold dumbbells (or a barbell from a low rack with safety arms set) with hands about shoulder-width apart, arms straight above your chest.
- Move. Lower the weight until your upper arms gently touch the floor, keeping your elbows close to your body.
- Finish. Pause briefly, then press back up to straight arms. If you're stuck, lower it to the floor or let your spotter take it.
Common mistakes
- Grip so narrow your wrists bend.
- Elbows flaring out.
- Bouncing off the floor.
