Pushing: chest, shoulders and triceps
Incline push-up
Muscles worked: Chest · triceps · shoulders · trunk

How to do it
- Set up. Place your hands on a sturdy, non-slip raised surface. Step your feet back and brace into a straight body line; the image shows this setup.
- Move. Bend your elbows to bring your chest towards the raised surface. Keep your shoulders, hips and heels moving together.
- Finish. Press the surface away to straighten your arms under control. If your hips start to sag, use a higher surface.
Common mistakes
- Using a chair that can slide. Put it against a wall, or use a worktop.
- Hips sagging.
- Head poking forwards.
