Pushing: chest, shoulders and triceps
Machine shoulder press
Muscles worked: Shoulders · triceps

How to do it
- Set up. Adjust the seat so the handles begin near shoulder height. Sit with your back supported and feet planted.
- Move. Press the handles upwards through a comfortable range without arching your lower back.
- Finish. Lower the handles slowly and stop before your shoulders lose a comfortable position. Check the machine’s instruction panel for how to adjust it.
Common mistakes
- Seat height set so the handles start above shoulder level.
- Arching away from the back pad.
- Locking out hard.
