Pushing: chest, shoulders and triceps
Floor press
Muscles worked: Chest · triceps · shoulders

How to do it
- Set up. Lie on the floor with knees bent and feet flat, holding dumbbells above your chest with straight arms (or a barbell from a low rack with safety arms set).
- Move. Lower the weights until your upper arms rest lightly on the floor, elbows at about 45 degrees from your body.
- Finish. Press back up to straight arms. Finish by bringing the dumbbells to your chest and rolling to one side before you sit up.
Common mistakes
- Elbows flared straight out.
- Dropping the elbows onto the floor instead of touching lightly.
- Losing control of the dumbbells as you lie down. Sit on the floor with them on your thighs first.
